There is pressure on the Sanson Playcentre.

With more families requiring pre-school education and care, particularly for babies there is pressure on the Sanson Playcentre.

The playcentre caters for the Marton, Bulls and Ohakea districts which have no centres for children under three. However, Sanson needs to upgrade its facilities to meet Ministry of Education requirements and to continue meeting the increasing demand as more families move into the district for lifestyle reasons.

The Eastern and Central Community Trust is providing a donation of $15,000 to help meet the costs of upgrading kitchen, baby sleeping areas and bathroom facilities.

The playcentre estimates the cost of work required to remain a licenced centre is approximately $87,000.

Our thanks to Eastern and Central Community Trust for providing this article.
