As a long-time supporter of the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust (TRHT), the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board (NZLGB) has provided over $300,000 to help purchase essential equipment for their new rescue helicopter.
The grant is the largest, single, equipment donation ever made by the Lottery Grants Board, and comes from the Outdoor Safety Committee. "The Lottery Outdoor Safety Committee granted $317,828 towards a rescue hoist and cargo hook for the new helicopter," says Secretary of the Lottery Grants Board, Morag Woodley. "This cutting-edge search and rescue equipment will help the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Trust provide high quality air rescue and ambulance services to the Taranaki community". The grant from NZLGB has contributed to a total fund of over $4 million, allowing TRHT to purchase an aircraft suitable for the unique geographic and meteorological conditions of the Taranaki region. According to TRHT Trust Manager Noel Watson, the purchase will "greatly improve the overall service we provide and increase the safety for all those onboard." Our thanks to Lottery Grants Board for providing this article.
